A hotel swimming pool in Girona, Spain is one of the many commercial pools in Europe to benefit from Calorex’s upgraded Delta environmental control systems.
The 12m x 7m indoor pool with a considerable pool hall of 1224m³ at the Hotel Thalassa in Rozas was previously being controlled by a Calorex Delta 8 unit with R-22, which was nearing the end of its working life.
After seeing the latest Delta advancements at the Piscina & Wellness trade exhibition in Barcelona last year, the hotel’s owner took the decision to upgrade to the new Delta 10 with PLC control panel. Having been very impressed with the performance of the old unit, he had no hesitation in opting for a Calorex unit again.
The Calorex Delta is a range of fresh air dehumidification and ventilation systems with dynamic heat pump heat recovery to swimming pool water and air.
With new touch screen technology and a remote internet connection, the upgraded Delta range allows you to control your pool room directly from your smartphone.
All the models in the range now come with a 5.7” touch screen display providing a more flexible approach to system management. The unit can be controlled and adjusted on-site to match fan speeds precisely to ductwork resistance and automatically vary exhaust speeds to match building load requirements.
Designed and manufactured in the UK under ISO9001 compliance, the highly innovative Delta range also features new EC/inverter fans as standard. These new fans are approximately 20 per cent more efficient due to the ability to adjust and control fan speed based upon demand through the PLC controller which allows the overall system efficiency to improve by up to 40%.
Miguel Gutiérrez of Pirolevante, Calorex’s distributor in Spain who handled the installation at Hotel Thalassa comments: “The replacement of the Delta at Hotel Thalassa was straightforward because the Delta 8 and Delta 10 have the same cabinet size and even though the air flow is higher in the Delta 10 the air ductwork could be re-aligned easily. The only challenge we encountered was getting the Delta to the site, as the swimming pool plantroom is located in the hotel’s basement.
“Since installation, the unit has been working perfectly and the hotel owners are delighted that they upgraded.”
